Career Intelligence, Not Career Advice: How MATT Assesses You and Gets You Hired

By Matt Metropulos

If your job search feels harder than it should be, it is not because you are doing it wrong. It is because almost everything written about job searching is written for everyone, which means it is written for no one. Generic advice cannot account for your background, your goals, or the specific market you are walking into. After more than a decade in human resources and talent strategy, reading thousands of candidates from the other side of the table, I built MATT to replace generic advice with something better: career intelligence. A real assessment of where you stand, and a plan built around it.

This is the long version of what MATT does, why it works, and how to use it. If you would rather just see your assessment, take it now, it takes about ten minutes and costs nothing.

Hiring Changed. Most Job-Search Advice Did Not.

For years, hiring ran on credentials. Degrees, titles, and years of experience were treated as proxies for ability. That model is breaking down, and fast. Tools change. Processes get automated. Entire functions get rewritten in a matter of months. What employers actually screen for now is capability and trajectory, not pedigree, even when the job description still reads like a checklist of credentials.

Here is what most candidates never see. A corporate role can draw hundreds of applications. An applicant tracking system filters many of them before a human looks at anything. The resumes that survive get a recruiter's attention for a handful of seconds. The ones that move forward are not always the most qualified, they are the ones that communicate fit, momentum, and signal in a glance. The gap between being qualified and being chosen is where most good candidates lose.

Generic advice cannot close that gap. "Tailor your resume" and "network more" are true and useless at the same time, because they do not tell you what to change, for which role, based on your actual profile. That requires an assessment, not a tip.

What Career Intelligence Means

Career intelligence is the difference between an opinion and a diagnosis. Most coaching gives you encouragement and a few frameworks. MATT gives you an honest, structured assessment of your career across five dimensions, scores each one, tells you where you are strong and where you are exposed, and then ranks real roles against it. It is the same evaluation I run in my head when I assess a candidate, productized so it can work for you on demand.

The honesty is the point. An assessment that only flatters you is worthless. Where a dimension is weak, MATT says so, because the only way to fix a gap is to see it first.

The MATT Methodology: Five Dimensions

Every candidate is assessed against the same five dimensions. Together they describe not just what you have done, but how you operate and where you are headed.

  • PROOF , what you have done. The body of work. Receipts, not credentials. Depth in a domain, ownership of outcomes, the patterns you have actually mastered.
  • STATE , where you are now. Energy, mindset, and readiness today. Two candidates with identical resumes can be in completely different states, and it shows in interviews.
  • STORY , the through-line. The narrative and values beneath your moves. Hiring managers do not buy a list of jobs, they buy a coherent reason you are standing in front of them.
  • PRESSURE , performance under load. What you do when it matters. This is the trait recruiters probe for and candidates most often fail to demonstrate.
  • DIRECTION , where you are going. Your target, your optimization profile, the shape of your next move. Direction is what turns a scattered search into a focused one.

Each dimension is scored zero to one hundred, with the AI's confidence attached. You see the whole picture, not a vanity number.

How the Assessment Works

You start with a conversation. Eight to twelve minutes with an AI built around my methodology. It asks the questions I would ask, listens for the through-line, and invites you to attach a resume or describe your last two roles when it makes sense. There is no time limit and nothing to study for. Then you get your assessment: the five dimensions scored, the honest notes where you are exposed, and ten roles ranked against your stated direction, pulled from live market listings, in your inbox the same day.

Everything is remembered. The assessment becomes part of your record, so every time you come back it deepens instead of starting over. This is free. No card required.

From Assessment to Results

An assessment is the start, not the finish. The work of getting hired is repetitive and specific, and that is exactly what the platform is built to carry:

  • ATS resume tailoring per role. Not one resume for everything, a version aimed at each role you target, written to survive the screen and speak to the hiring manager.
  • Company research briefs and interview prep. Walk in knowing the business, the role, and the questions that are actually coming.
  • A daily next move. The single highest-leverage thing to do today, so the search stops being a fog of "I should probably."

Where Matt Comes In

The platform is the leverage. I am the judgment. On the paid tiers I assess your case myself, there is no team of associates. The AI handles the volume and the repetition. I handle the calls, the curation, the negotiation, and the moments where a human who has sat in the hiring seat changes the outcome. That combination, AI depth plus a real HR strategist, is what makes this different from a chatbot and from traditional coaching alike.

Four Ways to Work With MATT

You choose how much support you want, and you can move up the ladder as the search gets serious.

  1. Free. The assessment, your five-dimension scorecard, ten ranked roles, and a thirty-minute consult with me when you want it. Start here.
  2. AI Career Partner, $29 per month. The AI works your search every day: resumes tailored to each role, company and interview prep on demand, and a clear next move every morning. A seven-day free trial, cancel in one click.
  3. AI + Matt, $299 per month. Everything in AI Career Partner, plus me directly. A weekly thirty-minute video call, unlimited messaging answered within twenty-four hours, and five to ten roles a week I curate myself. If you have no offer in ninety days, your next thirty days are free.
  4. Concierge, $2,500 per ninety days. Application only. I write your resume, research and contact twenty to thirty target companies in your name, and run the negotiation when an offer arrives. If you have not reached the interview stage by day sixty, you get a full refund.

Skin in the Game

The guarantees above are not marketing. They are operational. When a trigger condition is met, the refund or the extension is automatic, you do not have to request it or argue for it. I structured it that way on purpose. If I am asking you to bet on your search, I should be willing to bet alongside you.

Candidate-Side, Always

One more thing that matters. MATT represents you, the candidate, and only you. I do not take placement fees from employers, and I do not share your data with any company without your explicit, per-instance consent. When you ask me to facilitate an application, I act as your agent for that specific outreach. Your search is yours.

The Bottom Line

You do not need another article telling you to "be confident" and "follow up." You need to know, specifically, where you stand, which roles fit, and what to do next, backed by someone who has assessed candidates for a living. That is career intelligence, and that is the whole point of MATT.

Start with the assessment. Take it now, ten minutes, ten ranked roles, no card required. Then decide how you want to work.
